GCC Condemns Hezbollah Leader's Interference in Bahraini Affairs

The Gulf Cooperation Council, led by its Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, condemned the statements made by Naim Qassem, the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, regarding the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Albudaiwi described these statements as irresponsible, representing an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of a member state of the council. He affirmed that there is evidence of individuals linked to Hezbollah being involved in espionage activities with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard aimed at carrying out hostile activities within Bahrain.

These events highlight the security challenges faced by women in Bahrain, as such tensions can increase the risks they encounter in their daily lives. Women often bear the brunt in such situations, having to deal with additional layers of concern regarding the security of their families and their future.

It is noteworthy that the Gulf Cooperation Council classified Hezbollah as a terrorist organization since 2016, due to its involvement in activities such as recruiting young people, smuggling weapons, and inciting discord. These activities directly affect regional stability and create an unsafe environment for women, who suffer from the consequences of violence and instability.

Albudaiwi also emphasized the need to support reforms in Lebanon, stating that the council supports efforts led by President Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government headed by Nawaf Salam. This indicates hope that Lebanon may overcome its chaos and division, providing Lebanese women with better opportunities to live in a more stable and prosperous society.
