CHP Leader Özel Declares: "We're Ready for an Early Election!"
The Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Özgür Özel, stated in a declaration following the annulment decision that if the government holds snap elections, their party will nominate candidates and win the election. Özel emphasized that there is no question of anyone leaving the party during this process, and the possibility of closing the backup party is being considered. In his interview with DW Turkish, he stressed that the annulment decision is an effort to weaken the CHP and render it incapable of engaging in politics.

Özel pointed out that behind this decision lies the latest point of authoritarianism that Turkey has reached. He argued that the government does not want a strong opponent in the elections and is therefore trying to paralyze the CHP. He mentioned that the process, which began with operations targeting municipalities and expanding, continued with allegations affecting private life and targeting former friends. He stated that this situation is essentially a direct attack on them.
Özel stated that the CHP has two options ahead of them and acknowledged that the attacks on Ekrem İmamoğlu and the party are not legal but a political process. He emphasized that they do not leave their friends alone in this process and that they believe in them. He mentioned that many slanders, not included in the indictments, are being discussed in the public, but they do not give credence to them.
Özel said they have mobilized the opposition voter base and that under these circumstances, the intentions of those targeting İmamoğlu have become evident. He stressed that it is important for female voters to stand by the party during this time. He noted that the influence and power of women in politics become more pronounced in such political processes.

Özel stated that the party is preparing strongly for the elections and that the support of women will play a critical role in this process.
